The fishing industry poses quite a threat to the well being of the ocean and its inhabitants due to the techniques used by many fishermen and their drive to bring in as much catch as possible. Some of the best fish in the world are flirting with extinction because of over fishing. Beyond the harmful effects felt by fish, the destruction of natural habitats leads to the deaths of numerous other marine life that are not even being sought by commercial fishermen but are just collateral damage. Sea friends are working towards reigning in the fishing industry and pushing fishermen to adopt more environmentally friendly means of fishing.

Bass Fishing Lures and Tackle

You may have always wondered why there are hundreds of varieties of different tackle and lures used to catch the several species of bass. The answer to this questions would be… there is a time and place for each and every variety of lures. In dark water you must use this type, in clear water the other type. For shallow water use this lure, while in deep water you must use another with a couple add-ons. As you can see there may be hundreds of different scenarios to conquer and be able to make the bass attracted to your bait, that’s why there are so many different varieties.

Commonly Used Fishing Equipments

When you are starting out as a fisherman in the UK, it is best to start with the most simplistic form of fishing equipment. It really doesn’t require a lot of fishing gear to go fishing. However, a rod or pole is indeed a necessary piece of equipment. The fishing pole is used to suspend the line from which hangs the bait for the fish. Bamboo, fiberglass and carbon fiber are all basic materials used to make the poles. The fishing rod is used for the same purpose but is somewhat more sophisticated. They have various lengths and also vary in action. The sizes are available from a 24-inch rod to 20 foot one. The casting is better with the longer rod.
